Classroom Newsletter
Bienvenue! Welcome to Grade 5! My name is Kelsey Bates and I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as your child’s Grade 5 teacher for the 2018- 2019 school year. I was born and raised in London. I am a graduate of the French Immersion program, where I have been lucky enough to teach for the past 5 years.
Please take a few minutes to read through the information below to familiarize yourself with some of our classroom and school procedures. September will certainly be an adjustment period for all of us.
Uniform
Students are expected to be in school uniform at all times. Please refer to the agenda for further details.
Healthy Eating
As part of Healthy Schools Program, we ask that you do not send in any treats for birthdays or other celebrations/ holidays. You are welcome to send in fruit or other healthy snacks. Any bake goods or packaged food that is sent in to school must be accompanied with an ingredient list.
Online ordering
St. Anthony will be a cash free school this year. If you have not already do so please sign up for online payments to be able to pay for the agenda, milk, hot lunch, uniform sweatshirts etc.. You can do use following this link
https://ldcsb.schoolcashonline.com/
Medical Notes/ Allergies
Should your child have any serious allergies, please ensure that the office is notified, if you have not already done so. The child’s epipen, puffer etc. should be on him/her at all times or safely stored and easily accessible in the classroom or office.
Pick up/Drop off
We encourage everyone who is eligible to take the bus to do so. The parking lot will be roped off again this year for safety reasons. Should you need to drive your child, you will have to park on one of the side streets to drop your child off in an area where he/she is able to use the crossing guard to cross the street. Please do not drop your child off in the designated bus area.
There may be times during the school day when you need to pick up or drop off your child. Everyone who is entering or exiting the school (students and visitors) must report to the office. Please do not come directly to your child’s classroom.
School supplies
Please ensure that your child has the following supplies for the classroom:
* French/English Dictionary
* Indoor shoes
Classroom Communication
We will once again be using agendas as the main form of communication between home and school. I have also created a school messanger account. Use 9M228H to join group "Bates Grade 5" to be able to contact me directly.
Library
Our library day is on Tuesday. Please ensure that library books are returned every Tuesday.
Gym
Our phys. Ed classes are scheduled for Mondays and Fridays. Students will require indoor running shoes to participate in the physical education program.
Electronics
Should your child feel the need to bring their electronics to school, I will ask that they be stored safely in my cabinet for the day. Electronics are not permitted outside at recess and will only be used for classroom learning when instructed by the teacher.
Your child’s English teacher is Mme Mailloux and their music teacher is Mme LaDouceur.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns at the school (519-660-2777), through the agenda or using the class website under the tab "questions, comments, concerns".
I am looking forward to an exciting year in Grade 5!
